A great place to learn about the beginnings of Canada. Lots of displays and artefacts. Friendly informative staff.
I have visited Niagara-on-the-Lake many times, saw the sign for the museum, but drove right by. This time I decided to follow the sign and discovered this lovely museum located in an old house with beautiful gardens. Outside there is a rose Bush called "1812" as well as a terrace with historical cutouts.Inside there is a lovely small gift storeas well as historical exhibits of clothes, items and a dress up section for kids. Now they are highlighting when the Polish trained in NOTL around the 1st world war.Highlight for me was to see the hat that Sir Issac Brock wore.
The first purpose built museum in Canada. Neat.
The 3rd Sunday of every month is free:). So much history! Two floors of items of historical significance. They have a tablet that you can get that'll explain in more detail the artifacts you see on display (if you leave some picture id). They have walking tours too, although not when we were there but @$10 the price was very reasonable. Nice attendant, very knowledgable. Outside they had some lifesize historical figures with the faces cut out so that you could put your own face and take pictures. All in the beautiful area Niagara by the Lake.
Nice collection of memorabilia from early settlements and the War of 1812.
